Continued success of music and art

Saltburn-by-the-sea community centre ws the setting in June for a wonderful concert, Across The Vale, to highlight the start of an exhibition of Graeme's drawings from the days of his National Service in the 1950s, which he served in Germany. The exhibition, entitled They Bunged Us In Khaki, showed mainly life in the barrack room, cleaning guns and uniforms rather than anything active out in the field. Mainly of pencil, with some ink, the drawings are currently held inprovate and family collections. the concert, which raised £1,200 for charitable purposes, included performances by Robin Dale, The Wilsons, Ailsa MacKenzie, Vin Garbutt and Martyn Wyndham-Read, with Kevin Hall as MC. Ailsa played the harp during the opening of the exhibition prior to the concert. The exhibition has now been replaced with another of Graeme's drawings, this time from he and hsi wife Annie's sojourn in Rio de Janeiro. They depict life in the favelas - the famous slums of the city. The exhibition coincides with the staging of the 2016 Olympic Games in the city  Both the concert and the displays of Graeme's drawings have been set up by Trev and Angela Driscoll of Two Faces Design, Saltburn-by-the-sea. Among songs sung at the concert were Ring of Iron, The Trekkers, My Eldorado, Sea Coal and James Cook The Sailor O.
